LEVC VN5 electric van supports chilled deliveries during National Butchers’ Week

LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) has partnered with Turner & George, enabling the Clerkenwell-based artisan butcher to offer zero emission deliveries of its fresh meat & delicatessen goods during National Butchers’ Week (March 8-14th).

Recently launching a ‘Click & Collect’ service, Turner & George’s London-based clients can now choose a local delivery option too – and for this week, a refrigerated LEVC VN5 will bring those online orders directly to customers’ doors, cleanly and quietly.

The LEVC VN5 is a one-tonne electric van with bold, distinctive design and lightweight, strong, durable aluminium construction. Its innovative ‘eCity’ range extended electric technology was first introduced on LEVC’s successful TX taxi model. This technology can easily support the requirement for both zero emissions and a long-distance daily range, a critical combination for commercial vehicle operators, particularly ‘distribution to door’ delivery services.

More specifically, VN5 can offer a safe and consistent transportation environment for chilled goods. VN5 exceeds where most pure battery electric vans struggle, due to the electricity requirement for the temperature-controlled unit and the effect it has on range. VN5’s on board generator means there is no range anxiety and the vehicle can be used continuously without the need to stop and charge.

With a pure EV range of over 60 miles (98 km) and a total flexible range of 304 miles (489 km) VN5 is ideally suited to urban deliveries in zero emission mode, as well as longer journeys outside of town. The more frugal driver could achieve a 76 mile (122km) pure EV city range, according to WLTP city methodology.*

VN5 also has a class-leading turning circle of just 10.1m for unrivalled mobility in busy city environments and, with up to 5.5m3 cargo capacity, VN5 easily accommodates two Euro sized pallets, offering a gross payload of up to 830kg.  It has been built with a large side-loading door (enabling a pallet to be side-loaded) and a 60/40 split door at the rear to make loading and unloading easy for the driver.

LEVC is currently offering its customers free charging for one year** upon purchase of any new VN5 electric van, after partnering with the nationwide charge point provider, bp pulse. The bp pulse charging network features more than 8,000 pulse point charge points across the United Kingdom. New customers can claim the offer with proof of their VN5 purchase and will receive an access card that activates any charge point on bp pulse’s extensive network.

Manufacture of LEVC’s new VN5 electric van is now fully underway at the British company’s state-of-the-art production facility in Ansty, Coventry.
